Chia - a little of its history

Chia Friends

If you go to YouTube and type in AZChia it will take you to a 3 minute video which gives a little introduction to chia and its history and relationship to the Aztecs and the Mayans.

Hope you enjoy.

  1. Question: Is chia a true grain or a seed-like grain like amaranth? I have heard it described as both. I ask because my digestive process just does better when I avoid ALl grains - even gluten free grains. Thanks.

  2. Chia is technically an oilseed, not a grain since the seed contains over 30 percent oil. A grain has a low in oil content, for example wheat or amaranth.

  3. Dear Dr. Coates:

Will you be writing any more books on chia? I am absolutely fascinated learning about chia. I eat chia every day and know it's improving my health. It is a fantatic appetite suppressant, regardless of a recent study that showed that chia did not help overweight folks lose weight. I don't believe it! I love chia.

Please give us another book about it!

  4. Thanks for asking........time is one issue.

I have a chapter in a recently published book entitled Nuts and Seeds in Health and Disease Prevention, another chapter in a new book currently in press which should be out late this year or early next. Go to our facebook page and a notice will be put there when published.

There is thought of another book, but for now you will need to be content with website info and the books that are there.

    Regards,

    Wayne
